Successful Cancer Screening Camp for Women on 8th September 2025
On the 8th of September 2025, Health Rakshak organised another Ladies’ Cancer Detection Camp, as planned in advance. A total of 24 patients registered for the camp. The program began at 8:30 a.m. and concluded by 4:00 p.m.
Each patient went through four stages of screening:
- A complete oral check-up by the dentists.
- A consultation with the gynecologist, which included a general examination and
- Pap smear for cervical cancer.
- Mammography screening.
If required, a sono-mammography for further assessment.
The dental team included Dr. Ameya Pai, Dr. Swati Satpute, and Dr. Pratik Satpute, while the gynaecological examinations were conducted by Dr. Mira Naik, Dr. Gitanjali Belekar and Dr. Babita Patke. In addition to screenings, patients were given awareness sessions and educational information about breast cancer, as an increasing number of women are falling victim to this disease.
Ordinarily, such a comprehensive breast cancer check-up costs nearly ₹5,000 at corporate hospitals. However, GSBS Medical Trust has undertaken this initiative as part of its social awareness activities. Patients were charged only a nominal registration fee of ₹500.
This noble effort was made possible by the generous support of donors. The camp was sponsored by the children of Smt. Prema Narasimha Prabhu, who have been supporting it for the past four years. It was especially heartening to see two of the sponsors Mrs. Jaya Chabra and Mrs. Sudha Kelkar visit the centre to meet the patients. Smt. Gita Pai personally took them around Health Rakshak and expressed gratitude for their continued support.
The employees of the Medical Trust were equally delighted to meet the donors and appreciated their commitment to this cause.
