The Shree Ram Mandir Wadala’s Shree Ganeshotsav festival once again became a platform for promoting health and wellness among children with the highly anticipated Healthy Baby Contest, held on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

The panel of judges were Dr. Suhas Prabhu, Dr. Avinash Desai, and Dr. Ruturaj Patil. The general checkup on the babies was done by Dr. Pradeep Acharya, Dr. Vivek Pai, Dr. Vasant Shenoy, Dr. Poornima Prabhu, who carefully examined the 34 participating children, divided into two age groups: 0-2 years and 2-5 years. The carnival-like atmosphere was filled with excitement and joy, thanks in part to the witty comments and engaging hosting by Mr. Gopal Shanbhag, assisted by Mr. Upendra Bhandarkar.

The event was made possible through the generous sponsorship of M/s. Indoco Remedies. Volunteers like Ms.Deepika, Ms.Arati, and Ms. Shanteri Nayak from GSB Sabha’s Mahila Shakha while Ms. Rajni Kamath ensured the smooth execution of the event. Dr. Suhas Prabhu introduced the Chief Guest, Mr. Vivek Kamath, Independent Director of Garware Hi Tech Films and an ex-banker, to the gathering. Mr. Kamath graced the occasion and emphasised the importance of parents giving quality time to their children, highlighting its impact on their overall development.

Six prizes were awarded in each age group, with winners receiving certificates and cash prizes. However, the true spirit of the contest lay in its mission to promote awareness about preventive healthcare and immunisation among children. Dr. Chhavi Koranne’s insightful talk on the importance of caring for milk teeth resonated with the audience, dispelling common myths. Mrs. Gita Pai, compered the formal program and proposed a Vote of thanks. Special thanks were given to Wadala Mutt and Ganeshotsav Committee for giving a good ambience to conduct this programme.
