In the series of Breast Cancer camps organised by the GSBS Medical Trust at its Health Rakshak Centre, this camp was of special significance because this was sponsored by the family members of GSBS Medical Trust’s Founder Trustee Dr. V. R. Prabhu. During Dr. V. R. Prabhu’s birth centenary year in 2021, the family members created this endowment and every year in July, GSBS Medical Trust organises a camp in his memory.

This camp was a screening camp for the detection of breast cancer, cervical cancer and oral cancer. It was a full day camp with 24 patients and started at 8.30 in the morning on Monday, the 8th of July. It concluded at 5 in the evening. This is time consuming for each patient as they have to pass through 4 different stages of check ups. For Oral Cancer checkup, the doctors that attended to the patients were Dr. Shalini Rupnarayan & Dr. Pratik Satpute. The gynaecological checkups were conducted by Dr Nutan Pai, Dr. Mira Naik and Dr. Swapnali Malkar. Dr. Ritesh Dalvi was in charge of Sonography.

The technicians at the centre carried out all the work very efficiently. The credit of the work done towards carrying out this camp systematically goes to the staff members at the Health Rakshak.

Thanks to the family members of Late Dr. V. R. Prabhu. Mrs. Sushma Shenai, Mrs. & Mr. Jagannath Prabhu and Dr. Suhas Prabhu were all present for the occasion. Trustee Dr Sandhya Kamath received them all.
