GSBS Medical Trust has restarted tobacco cessation programmes in schools & colleges, and one such was conducted at Kamaraj School in Dharavi on the 20th of December, 2022.

A total of 375 – 400 students from the 9th and 10th standard attended the session. They were briefed by Dr. Chhavi Korrane on the ill-effects of tobacco consumed in different forms. Major causes of Cancer (different types viz. Throat, Larynx, Oesophagus, Lungs etc.) being tobacco products like Cigarettes, Paan/ Gutkha, Khaini were screened on an LCD projector, with photos for a clear understanding of the ill-effects.

The students actively participated throughout the session. We are thankful to the school principal and teachers for giving us the opportunity to conduct this programme.

Many such educational programmes have been planned in the coming days & months in different schools in Mumbai.
