GSBS Medical Trust Conducts Oral Cancer Screening Camp at Dharavi
GSBS Medical Trust successfully organised an Oral Health Screening Camp at Dharavi on Sunday, the 21st of December, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the aim of early detection and prevention of oral cancer.
Considering the high prevalence of gutka and tobacco chewing habits in the area, the dental team focused on bringing as many individuals as possible under screening. The dentists emphasized that early identification of oral cancer can save lives and significantly improve treatment outcomes.
The camp was generously sponsored by Dr. Ameya Pai, who is deeply committed to oral cancer awareness and prevention. He dedicated this meaningful initiative in the loving memory of his late father, Shri Ajit R. Pai.
Approximately 80 patients were screened during the camp. Each patient received detailed medical advice and counseling, making the program both a screening and educational initiative to create awareness about oral health and the dangers of tobacco use.
The program was efficiently coordinated by Supervisor Ms. Sampada Bait, with excellent support from the Trust’s office staff, whose teamwork ensured the smooth conduct of the camp. In addition to dental services, orthopedic consultations were also provided, and physician doctors conducted general health check-ups for all the attendees.
Mrs. Gita Pai personally met and expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all the doctors and medical staff for their dedicated and selfless service to the community.
