GSBS Medical Trust Celebrates Makar Sankranti with Traditional Fervour

According to the Vedic calendar, the movement of the Sun and Moon through the zodiac signs marks significant celestial events. When the Sun transitions from one Rashi (zodiac sign) to another, the occasion is celebrated as Sankranti. Among these, Makar Sankranti holds special cultural and spiritual importance across India. This auspicious month is traditionally marked by Haldi Kumkum celebrations organised by women, symbolising prayers for family welfare, prosperity, and harmony. Indian festivals are also renowned for their rich variety of traditional delicacies, and Makar Sankranti is no exception. The exchange of til (sesame seeds) and jaggery signifies warmth, sweetness, and the strengthening of bonds among friends and relatives.

Embracing these age-old traditions, GSBS Medical Trust celebrated Makar Sankranti with great enthusiasm. The Sankranti get-together was held on Wednesday, the 21st, bringing together staff members from all centres in a spirit of unity and festivity.

Mr. and Mrs. Ramesh Bhandarkar and Mrs. Kanchan Gharse graced the occasion as esteemed guests. They distributed traditional laddoos and gift items to employees across all centres, spreading joy and festive cheer. A sumptuous lunch was arranged, which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone present.

A special feature of the occasion was recogning and honouring Ms. Prajakta Awasare who was chosen the BEST Employee of the quarter. She was given a special cash prize and a certificate appreciating her qualities and working skills in the organisation. She was congratulated by all.

The programme concluded with Smt. Gita Pai expressing heartfelt gratitude to the guests for their gracious presence and support, making the celebration memorable for all.
