10th Cancer Detection Medical Camp

 10th Cancer Detection Medical Camp

GSBS Medical Trust has been holding Cancer detection Camps for the past couple of months.  This 10th such camp took place on the 20th of September 2021.

As Cancer detection is a lengthy process,  each patient has to pass all FOUR stages of check up.  Not more than 24 patients could be registered for a full day camp. It is an expensive one too.  Healthrakshak could conduct this as the relevant doctors and the equipments are available at the Centre.

This camp was possible because of the sponsorship by Inmar Engineering Services Pvt. Ltd.

Each patient had to pass through four different stages like The Registration, the Dental check up, Gynaecology checkup, and Sonography. Dr. Shalini Rupnarayan, Dr. Shirley Limaye, Dr. Pratik Satpute, Dr. Ankita Jain, Dr. Swapnali Malkar, Dr. Reena Kumari Sengupta  Dr. Mira Naik  and  Dr. Gauri Amonkar and Dr. Sandhya Kamath attended to the patients.

Thanks to all doctors for taking up the slot and examining the patients.  The camp ended by evening.

The sponsors Mr. Prakash M. Pai and his daughter Ms. Manjiri took some time to visit Healthrakshak and met everyone.

Ms. Manjari said, “In the modest space, top-notch diagnostic equipment, a massive panel of over hundred visiting doctors across various medical needs, an advanced dental clinic– all provided at nominal costs and is open to all.” Mr. Prakash Pai said, “It is an amazing affordable centre.”

Smt. Gita R. Pai thanked the sponsors for their financial support, and more for their presence at the centre.

Feedback

I had taken my mother and sister to the GSBS Medical Centre for a Cancer Screening Camp for Women above 40– a  preliminary Cancer check and awareness camp. While I accompanied them, I was impressed with the efficiency and compassion of the staff working at GSBS. My mother suffers from Parkinsons and they were very accommodating and sensitive to her needs and assisted her all through the process. At the camp, not only were all the vital checks done – like mammography, pap smear test but the participants were also given a hand out for routine self check for breast cancer.
Months later, we were delighted to sponsor a similar Cancer Camp for the benefit of other women. As sponsors of the event, we were invited to take a tour of the GSBS Healthrakshak Centre. We were amazed by the array of facilities that were available in the Centre in the modest space — top notch diagnostic equipment, a massive panel of over hundred visiting doctors and specialized consultants across various medical pathologies, an advanced dental clinic — all provided at nominal costs and open to all. Initiatives of the trust like the Arogya Nidhi Scheme play a crucial role in reducing the burden of medical expenses for the patients from the lower income group. My kudos to the entire GSBS team–  the staff, the panel of doctors and the trustees and I urge the better privileged members of the society to encourage and contribute to their efforts.
